I’m going to take a break from London Fashion Week today, because this month sees the UK launch of an important health campaign that has been running in Australia and New Zealand for a few years.  Called Blue September, the campaign raises awareness about how cancer affects men - all cancers, not just the cancers like testicular and prostate cancer that only men get.

As regular followers of my tumblr will know, I’ve been producing a calendar for a while with the rowing team at Warwick University, and it so happens that Chris one of the calendar stars, has overcome cancer himself.  I asked him if he would be interested in doing a shoot with body paint for Blue September, and he thought it was a great idea.

A few weeks down the line, we’d found another willing and high profile participant in Simon Hislop, a rower who has beaten cancer and who helped Oxford to victory in this year’s Boat Race (which attracts one of the largest live audiences of any sporting event in the world).  And a few of Chris’s Warwick team-mates agreed to strip off in solidarity.

So here are a couple of pics of the boys - I’ll be posting more throughout September, as well as pics of other athletes and models who agreed to throw in a few blue paint shots at the end of their shoots.

Do check out Blue September for more information on why the boys thought this was worth stripping off for!
