

Here are a last couple of pictures of Arno, given rather different treatments. I’ve always tended to go for the softer, lower contrast approach that you can see in the second image, with Arno lying on the sofa. But when I started doing test prints for exhibitions, I realised that what looks great on screen doesn’t necessarily translate to the page quite as well.
I guess it’s the difference between a Kindle and an iPad - one is backlit, and one isn’t. A Kindle looks a lot more like a printed page, while the iPad is very much a computer screen, with backlighting that adds drama in a way that no paper can. Well, except for the News of the World. And look how that worked out.
